Terms of Service
Last updated: February 2026
1. Agreement
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Askance platform operated by Advancer Limited ("we", "us", "our"), including the web dashboard, desktop app, mobile app, CLI tool, and API (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
2. Description of Service
Askance is a tool call interception and exception management platform for AI coding agents. It intercepts tool call permission prompts, routes approval requests to dashboards, enforces safety policies, and enables remote task dispatch across multiple IDE sessions.
3. Accounts
- You must provide accurate information when creating an account
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
- You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
- One person or organization may not maintain more than one free account
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its servers
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
- Use the Service to transmit malware or malicious content
- Resell or redistribute the Service without authorization
- Use the Service in a way that could harm other users or the infrastructure
5. Subscriptions and Billing
The Service is available in free and paid tiers. Paid subscriptions are billed monthly or annually through Stripe. You may cancel your subscription at any time, and it will remain active until the end of the current billing period.
We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days notice. Price changes do not affect the current billing period.
6. Intellectual Property
The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Advancer Limited and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
You retain all rights to your own code, configurations, and data. Askance does not claim ownership over any content you create or manage through the Service.
7. Your Data
You retain ownership of all data you submit to the Service. We process your data only as described in our Privacy Policy. You may request export or deletion of your data at any time.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
Askance is a tool call management layer. We do not guarantee that the Service will prevent all unintended actions by AI agents. You are responsible for reviewing and configuring your policy rules appropriately.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Advancer Limited shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service.
Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.
10. Service Availability
We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, or due to circumstances beyond our control.
When the Service is unavailable, the CLI hook handler falls back to default behavior (prompting the user directly), so your coding workflow is not blocked.
11. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your account at any time for violation of these Terms. You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately, and we may delete your data after a reasonable retention period.
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.
